Empowering Minority Businesses in the Digital Age: Meet Ebony, Founder of Ebony K. Agency and The Social Society

Who are you and what business did you start?

Hi! I’m Ebony, a Houston-based lifestyle creator and founder of Ebony K. Agency. My agency is dedicated to helping minority business owners thrive in the digital world. Through social media management, done-for-you content creation, digital strategy consulting, and The Social Society—my community for content and digital growth—I empower business owners to reach new heights.

What's your backstory and how did you come up with the idea?

The idea for a hands-on, done-for-you social media service came from my own experiences with my previous business. I initially focused on coaching and digital products for business owners looking to enhance their online presence. But time after time, I noticed that many business owners simply didn’t have the hours or capacity to execute all they were learning. After working with over a thousand small businesses globally, I saw just how demanding social media was becoming. That’s when I decided to pivot, founding Ebony K. Agency to offer these critical services and launching The Social Society to foster growth and support for new entrepreneurs.

Take us through the process of how you started your business.

Starting Ebony K. Agency was a journey! I began with one-on-one consultations, digital products, and experimented with various content strategies alongside my clients. As my personal brand gained traction, I gained deeper insights into what business owners truly needed: more time and support. To meet that need, I expanded my offerings to include complete content creation, video editing, and digital strategy consulting. The Social Society was born out of a desire to make education and resources accessible to smaller businesses and new entrepreneurs who want to grow but may not yet be ready for full-service offerings.

Since launch, what has helped attract and retain customers?

Building trust has been the foundation of everything. Consistent social media presence, webinars, and sharing free tips and tutorials have been huge in connecting with potential clients. Referrals from satisfied clients have also played a massive role in growth—it’s always rewarding to see past clients bring new ones through word of mouth.

What tools/platforms do you use for your business?

My toolkit is always expanding, but some staples include Canva for graphic design, CapCut for video editing, Skool for community building, and ManyChat for leads and automations. These tools keep our workflow smooth and efficient.

What have been the most influential books, podcasts, or other resources?

Hands down, the most influential book I’ve read has been $100M Offers by Alex Hormozi. It’s a game-changer in understanding how to structure and present offers in a way that truly resonates with customers.

What advice would you give to someone who wanted to pursue the same path as you?

Focus on your offer and strive to be the best at it. The digital world evolves quickly, so it’s essential to keep learning and improving every day. Consistency is the name of the game—keep showing up online, refining your skills, and always prioritize adding value for your clients.

What are you the most proud of?

I’m incredibly proud of the impact I’ve had in helping minority business owners feel empowered and increase their clientele through digital marketing. Seeing the tangible results, unleashing creativity, and knowing the work is driving real success is so fulfilling. I’m also proud that Ebony K. Agency has grown to serve high-level entrepreneurs while The Social Society remains a supportive space for small businesses to learn and grow.
